The makers behind this innovative and helpful piece of machinery have
designed several accessories to make work easier and simpler.
Here are some of the accessories that are available:
1. The Easy Clean Brush: this brush was made to handle
households with pet. With hair scattered all over, you can now have the robot vacuum your floors and clear it from
any form of dirt.
2. Remote Control: you can now control your Roomba’s movements while you remain comfortably seated
in your chair. This is especially handy for handicapped owners.
3. iRobot Scheduler: you can program your Roomba to clean around your schedule, even when you’re
not at home. Just set the time for work to start, and as soon as it is done cleaning, the robot simply docks itself
to the Homebase where it recharges its batteries for the next time it cleans.
4. Homebase: the Roomba automatically returns itself to this dock so that it can recharge its
batteries.
5. Virtual Wall: this is used to keep the Roomba away from specified areas.
6. Virtual Wall Lighthouse: combines the functionality of
the Virtual Wall with the Lighthouse mode. It helps contain the Roomba in one room until it is completely vacuumed.
Once the task has been completed, it moves on to the next area.
7. OSMO: this is a dongle that attaches to the serial port. This updates a pre-2.1 Roomba's
firmware to version 2.1. It is also able to correct the "circle dance" problem that the second generation Roomba
had.
8. Advanced Power System (APS) Battery: the rechargeable battery for all models. Extends the
cleaning from 120 minutes to 200 minutes.
How the iRobot Roomba Helps its Owner
As you clean your house, you make sure that every spot is covered and
every piece of furniture is intact. But what happens if you also have other responsibilities to think of, and
finding an ample amount to clean is impossible? Not to fret, because the iRobot Roomba is here to help you. You can
now do your other chores because this tiny equipment can calculate the amount of time needed to clean based on the
amount of dirt detected. The infrared signals are set to ensure that they don't bump into objects while vacuuming
away the dust collected on the floors and under the furniture.
Once cleaning has been completed, the Roomba stops and sings a few
triumphant notes. If a Home Base comes with the model, the robot detects it and docks itself to it as it rests. All
you need to do is remove the dustbin from the rear and empty it into the trash. The later generations have an
infrared remote control that can also be used to control the unit.
It is small enough to go under a bed or other low furniture. If the unit
senses that it has become stuck, it stops and makes a mournful sound so that you can look for it and reset the
work.
Ever since the dawn of the iRobot Roomba models, busy homemakers can now rest easy because they know that they have
a cleaning aid that thinks for on its own.
